Man Gets 1,503-Year Prison Sentence For Unspeakable Crime

A 41-year old Californian man, Rene Lopez has been given the longest prison sentence in history for committing the most heinous crime, after a Judge deemed him a ‘serious danger to society’.

According to crimeInternational news reports, the man was found guilty in September by a jury of 186 felony counts of sexual assault, including dozens of counts of rape of a minor – his teenage daughter whom he repeated raped two to three times a week, from May 2009 – May 2013.

It was reported the victim, now aged 23, was first sexually abused by a family friend. Instead of protecting his daughter, Lopez turned her into a “piece of property”, Ms. Nicole Galstan, the crime prosecutor, said.

The victim who reported her father’s abuse told the court that she was young and defenseless and her father never showed remorse for her pain and suffering. She said:

“When my father abused me, I was young. I had no power, no voice. I was defenseless.”

Another report also said that at one point, the girl was made pregnant by her father who then paid for her to have an abortion, hence prosecutor Galstan asked for Lopez to be handed down the maximum term to which Judge Edward Sarkisian Jr. agreed.

What prompted the 1,503 years jail terms was the fact that Lopez never showed any remorse during the court trials. The Judge was furious that the rapist even blamed his daughter for exposing the abominable crime. He just sat in silence all through the trial and never acknowledged his daughter, who told the judge she’s afraid of her father.

Prosecutor Galstan said the abuse only ended when the victim was courageous enough to report to the police and before his sentence, Lopez refused to accept two plea deals which could have reduced his prison sentence to a minimum of 13 to 22 years if he had admitted his guilt.

Instead, he declined, and requested to be released from jail for the time he already had served. But in arguing for the maximum prison sentence, the prosecutor said, ‘He ruined her teenage years and made her feel like it was her fault’.
